Day 1 – Change is a skill [14-Day Power Mindset Challenge]

👋 Welcome to Day 1 of Team Asijiki’s free 14-Day Power Mindset Challenge!

💡 Each day for 14 days we give you 1 lesson and an action to complete that will make you think, open your mind and better prepare you for change in any aspects of your life.

Today’s lesson is that “Change is a Skill”

Today we hope that we are going to shift all your perceptions about getting healthy and show you that no matter who you are that change is absolutely possible in your life.

Change is a skill and a practice.

Most people tend to believe that some people are just better at making healthier choices. As though it is destined in their stars. They were the lucky ones.

Those are the healthy people over there and here is me. It is so easy for them. They do not like pizza and watching DVDs… they are from another planet.

Not true.

These people know CHANGE IS A SKILL. They practice continually. Like you, they sucked at the start.

Which means you and anyone can achieve health if you are willing to learn and invest the take the time to practice.

If you are struggling to sustain a healthy lifestyle, you are not broken, weak, or stupid.

You are likely just lacking a few required skills. You’re missing a piece of the puzzle that is stopping you from having the confidence and ability to live a healthy lifestyle.

Everyone has some “limiting factors” in their life that are holding them back from change.
With the right knowledge and a bit of practice, you can overcome or work around your limiting factors.

Just like playing the piano or speaking a new language, you don’t become skilled over-night. It requires the deliberate and consistent practice of the right things in the right order.

Practice doesn’t make perfect, practice makes permanent.

The simple fact is that the more you practice health the better you are going to get at it. You may suck at the start and that is fine. Nobody ever mastered anything in a week right?

So why are you expecting to do that with your health?

It is also very important to note that CHANGE itself is a skill.

No matter what nutritional or lifestyle changes you want to make, you have to get better at making a change in the first place if you want those changes to “stick.”

Over this 14 day challenge, you’ll explore what changes are most important to YOU and YOUR life.

We’ll give you some practice with just… making change.

Any change at all.

The better you can be at changing the better your long-term prospects. Habits are also formed by constant repetition until things become second nature. How can making healthy choices become like brushing your teeth?

Taking action that is:

  1. Deliberate
  2. Consistent
  3. Doable
  4. Repeatable

So let’s jump right into putting this new idea to practice.

Today’s 🎯 Action:

We are going to keep it very simple.

All you need to do is take a single 5 min action of your choosing daily for the next 14 days.

No matter what happens you are going to do that 5 min action daily. No exceptions.

So make it super simple.. Simple, doable and repeatable.
Choose “low-hanging fruit”. Small. Simple. Do-able. Guaranteed to succeed.

Don’t start a big project or get over-ambitious. Don’t overthink it.

You should be 100% confident that you can do each day’s task.

It doesn’t matter what it is. All that matters is that you do it. That is the assignment.

Either way, this will help you practice changing something daily.

Stuck for ideas? Here are some suggestions to jog your mind:

  • Go for a 5 min walk during the day
  • Make ONE very small nutritional improvement (whatever feels doable, easy, and fun today). For example drinking a glass of water when you wake up.
  • Practice something you want to improve (such as cooking).
  • Close your eyes and breathe for 5 mins.
  • Take a multivitamin.
  • Get 5 minutes of fresh air and sunlight during the day.

The possibilities are endless.
